Goodbye Mr. Piano Man

When youâ??re planning your holiday shopping route make sure to stop by Nordstrom and enjoy the end of what has become an in-store staple, live piano music. Those sweet sounds we have come to love will cease after the New Year due to a little belt tightening. The demise of this personal touch is attributed to projected low retail sales chain wide. Some stores have already begun lessening playing time.
Nordstrom is reverting to popular music blaring overhead, despite their customersâ?? deep appreciation for the live piano music that has for years made a signature impression. Rumblefish Creative Director Brian Rupp thinks shoppers will feel the difference in the store environment. â??I might stay in the store as long, but my perception of Nordstrom will likely be diminished somewhat,â? he said. â??Whatâ??s gone is this loss of an experiential element that really transcends music and has more to do with human presence, a human touch.â?
